Herenia Ferreiro, LCSW-Q.S.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Herenia has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida since 1998. She has vast experience in the field of mental health, working with adults, adolescents, and children. Her experience includes assessment and evaluation, individual family and group therapy. Herenia has extensive experience in managing community mental health and substance abuse, within non-profit and for-profit programs. She has worked as an adjunct professor at Hudson County Community College teaching Sociology (in a Bilingual Program), and at Barry University, School of Social Work, teaching Assessment In Social Work Practice, in a Master’s level program.
Herenia is trained in evidence-based psychotherapies including: Prolonged Exposure (PE) model for treatment of Veterans/clients with PTSD (combat and sexual trauma), and is a Certified Consultant since 2010; Behavioral Family Therapy for serious psychiatric disorders; Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) for substance Abuse disorders; Motivational Interviewing (MI), also a certified consultant since 2014 ; and Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR Narrative Therapy).
Herenia received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 1982, with a minor in Psychology, from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. In 1992 Herenia received a Masters of Social Work degree, with an emphasis on clinical practice, from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Herenia is fluent in Spanish. She has been a field instructor for over twenty years; is a Qualified Clinical Supervisor with the Florida Department of Health; and provides clinical supervision to post-Master's Social Work interns.
